What is ""?

The American Legion’s primary mission,,  is a concentrated effort to save the lives of veterans and servicemembers at risk of suicide.

to Act, to Call, to Serve, to SAVE.

On the first day of each month, Post 335 has a significant opportunity to demonstrate how our commitment is impacting the fight to prevent veteran suicide.

Through regular Buddy Checks, we remind our fellow veterans that they are not forgotten—that they matter deeply. A simple call, text, email, or visit can be the connection that brings hope, healing, or even saves a life.

Ask how they’re doing. Let them know they’re valued. At Post 335, we stand together—for every veteran, every time.

~Five Lifesaving Steps to Help a Veteran in Crisis~

Post 335 stands committed to being the one who makes a difference. Here’s how YOU can help:

1.Start the conversation. Ask how they’re feeling. Don’t be afraid to ask directly if they’re thinking about suicide. Your courage could open the door to healing.

2. Protect them from harm. Remove access to weapons, medications, or anything that could be used for self-injury.

3. Stay with them. Your presence matters. Listen with compassion, without judgment. Sometimes just being there is enough.

4. Connect them to help. Reach out to mental health professionals, crisis lines, or veteran support groups. You don’t have to fix everything—just help guide them to someone who can.

5. Follow up. Check in regularly. A simple message or visit can remind them they’re not alone—and that someone truly cares.
